Privacy Policy

This page lays out what data we collect when you visit our site, how we use it, and when it might be shared with others. Using any page on this website means you accept the practices described here.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or place entered in a search box is sent directly to the independent company that operates that tool. The partner processes the query and supplies its results. Lauderdale County Criminal History does not keep a separate log of those search terms.

Messages and Contact Submissions

Email and contact messages may be retained long enough to answer and manage the exchange. They are not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.

Data We Gather Automatically

Routine server and analytics logs can collect technical details when a page loads:

  • The IP address assigned to your device
  • Which browser you are using and its version
  • Your device type and operating system
  • The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
  • The site that sent you here, if any
  • Timestamps for each page view

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small device files used to measure site traffic and page use. Analytics providers may combine that activity into summary reports. Browser controls can reject cookies, although doing so may alter how parts of the site work.

What We Do With This Data

  • Operating, securing, and improving site performance
  • Routing submitted queries to the selected search partner
  • Measuring which pages are used and diagnosing errors
  • Supporting advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

No database of personal criminal records is maintained, compiled, or sold here. The published material explains where Lauderdale County records are held, including the sheriff, criminal courts, ALEA CJIS, ADOC, and the Alabama Sex Offender Registry. Official access is separately governed by the Alabama Open Records Act, Ala. Code §§ 36-12-40 and 36-12-41, and Alabama's criminal-history controls in §§ 41-9-590 through 41-9-645. Visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies supply the search tools. Their privacy terms govern information entered into those tools, including retention and disclosure choices outside this site's control. Review the selected partner's policy before submitting data.

Links to Other Websites

Links lead to government offices, court portals, state agencies, and other services. Once a visitor leaves this domain, the destination's privacy policy applies. Read it before providing personal details.

Advertising services may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:

  • Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
  • Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
  • Ad networks that place ads on our pages
  • Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable safeguards are used for collected data. No internet system can promise absolute security, so a breach-free result cannot be guaranteed.

Users Under 18

This resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A verified minor's data will be removed when properly identified.

Your Data Rights

Rights may vary by residence and applicable law. Alabama consumer matters may also be governed by the Alabama Deceptive Trade Practices Act, Ala. Code §§ 8-19-1 through 8-19-15. Available requests can include:

  • Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
  • Have us fix information that is wrong
  • Request that we erase your data
  • Opt out of certain kinds of data processing

Updates to This Policy

Revisions to this policy will appear here with an updated effective date. Continued use after publication is governed by the revised policy.
